That hasn’t stopped speculation about the Galaxy S22’s range. There are already a lot of rumors about the devices – for now, the Galaxy S22, S22 +, and S22 Ultra are expected.
Here’s everything we’ve heard so far about the Samsung Galaxy S22 range.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Release Date And Price

The Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra were unveiled in January 2021, as mentioned above, although this was earlier than the company’s usual schedule for the launch of the Galaxy S series. Before 2021, the range was unveiled in February and made available in March.
At this point, it’s not clear whether January is the new schedule for the Galaxy S lineup or if Samsung will return to the previous standard. Of course, it’s also possible that there’s an entirely different timeline for the Galaxy S22 series, especially since the Galaxy Note 21 won’t be happening this year.
Price-wise, the Galaxy S21 starts at £769 in the UK and $799 in the US. The Galaxy S21+ starts at £949 in the UK and $999 in the US and the Galaxy S21 Ultra starts at £1149 in the UK and $1199 in the US. The respective successors will likely stick to a similar estimate, but for now, it’s too early to say.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is likely to share design features like the S21 series. There will undoubtedly be some changes compared to the 2021 range, but these may be minor changes between the S20 range and the S21 range. Rumors and renderings suggest a minor but nothing substantial change, moving the camera body to a separate island rather than repacking the frame for the S22 and S22+.
The S22 Ultra is rumored to be going through a major design change in terms of the rear camera housing and there has also been the suggestion of a built-in S Pen rather than just support for it.
We expected premium handsets across the range, but the standard S22 will likely opt for a plastic back rather than glass, as the S21 did. However, water resistance is expected on all S22 models and USB Type-C charging.
We also expect a prominent camera housing and a perforating front camera on all models. While the Galaxy Z Fold 3 offers an under-display camera, the Galaxy S22 range is said to not adopt it.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Display

The Samsung Galaxy S21 has a 6.2-inch screen, the S21+ has a 6.7-inch screen and the S21 Ultra has a 6.8-inch screen. It is still unclear whether Samsung will continue to offer three devices in the S22 series and keep the same dimensions. Rumors suggest that all three will be smaller, with the S22 offering a 6.06-inch display, the S22+ a 6.55-inch display, and the S22 Ultra a 6.81-inch display.
We expected the standard S22 and S22+ to offer both Full HD+ resolutions and flat screens, as was the case with the S21 and S21+. In the meantime, the S22 Ultra will likely continue to offer a higher resolution and curved display, although that’s all speculation for now.
HDR support and a refresh rate of 120 Hz are expected on all S22 models. It has been stated that only the S22 Ultra will offer a variable refresh rate.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Hardware and Specifications

At the moment it’s not clear what the Samsung Galaxy S22 will offer in terms of hardware, although it will likely have the next Qualcomm Snapdragon processor onboard – which will probably be unveiled in December and will reportedly be called the Snapdragon 898 – or the Exynos chipset 2200 latest generation with AMD, depending on the region.
As for other specs, the S22 will likely offer at least 8GB of RAM just like its predecessor and will come in a base model with at least 128GB of storage. The S21 line doesn’t have microSD support, so we suspect the S22 line won’t be reintroducing it, unfortunately.
It is almost certain that all S22 handsets will be 5G compatible and we expect the S22 to support fast charging and fast wireless charging. Samsung has confirmed that the charger will not come in the box — a change Apple made for the iPhone 12 series.
The Galaxy S22 is rumored to have a 3800mAh battery, the S22+ a 4600mAh battery, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra a 5000mAh battery. There have also been claims of 3700mAh for the Galaxy S22 and 4500mAh for the Galaxy S22+, both smaller than their respective predecessors.

There are allegations that Samsung is working on a 200-megapixel camera sensor that could be placed on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and there are some reports that suggest Samsung and Olympus are also in talks about a partnership.
Other rumors also suggest Samsung is looking at sensor-switching technology like the iPhone 13 series offers, and there’s been some talk about a new periscope lens that allows the lens to move freely between the 3X and 10X zoom.
There are also reports that the ToF sensor is also not returning on the Galaxy S22 – like not on the S21 model.
Other rumors say that the triple rear camera on the Galaxy S22 will consist of a 50-megapixel main sensor, plus two 12-megapixel sensors for ultra-wide angle and telephoto, with the telephoto camera capable of 3x zoom. The Galaxy S22+ is said to share this configuration.

It is also certain that Samsung will offer multiple variants of the S22 range to offer varied specifications at a range of prices. We’ll likely see an entry-level S22, along with an updated S22 Plus and a premium S22 Ultra model with the best specs – and the highest compatible price. It’s a recipe Samsung has followed for generations and a strategy that seems to be working. For those with a more modest budget, the company can also make a Galaxy S22 FE more affordable, although it won’t be released with the lineup – we don’t expect the S21 FE until the end of this year. The Galaxy S20 FE (FE stands for Fan Edition) was released in October 2020, eight months after the S20 mainline. The Fan Edition phone has sacrificed some smart features and specs to achieve a more affordable price.
While we’re not sure what every Galaxy S22 model will look like, according to the views shared by Digit and tipster @OnLeaks, the Galaxy S22 Ultra could be similar in design to the Galaxy Note 20 with a flat S Pen slot and flat edges. on the top and bottom of the phone. Digit and @OnLeaks also suggest that Samsung’s new Ultra model will have a P-shaped camera module with a quad-camera configuration.
Samsung Galaxy S22 supports 65W charging
Samsung could upgrade the S22 series with support for 65-watt charging, according to the FrontTron leaker. The insider posted on Twitter in July that the 65-watt fast charger is in the testing phase for Rainbow RGB, a controversial codename for the S22 series. If this speculation turns out to be true, the S22 would offer significantly faster charging times than the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Note 20 lineup, both with 25 watts of charging.

The Galaxy S22 may come in a new green and dark red color. According to the Galaxy Club, the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will be available in four colors: white, black, rose gold, and green. The new green option is similar to the Phantom Green of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Galaxy S22 Ultra will be offered in white, black, and a new dark red color, according to the blog.
The Leaker Ice Universe also recently tweeted an image of a burgundy Galaxy S8 with the caption “Brown Red Return!” While the leak didn’t specify which Galaxy model was pictured, LetsGoDigital followed up on the Ice Universe post with a separate tweet stating that the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected in red, black, and white.
The LetsGoDigital blog previously speculated that the company may have suggested new color options for the upcoming Galaxy S22 at Samsung’s Unpacked event in August 2021. At one point in the presentation (about 46 minutes), when Samsung talks about the compatibility of the S Pen with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the words “SS22 colors” are on the foldable phone. Text appeared next to a separate window showing light green plaid pants and a baby pink blazer pointing to the words “Pistache Green” and “Flamingo Pink.” We may be able to see these new colors for the Galaxy S22, but we won’t know for sure until the phone makes its debut.

Don’t expect to expand this storage as the S21 series has removed the option to add microSD cards. This was a real disappointment, especially on the S21 Ultra, as the high-resolution images and 8K videos take up a lot of space. Fingers crossed for a comeback, but hope not.
