DETAILED REVIEW OF SAMSUNG GALAXY F62
The ink has just dried on the reviews for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series devices, and the company has already launched a new phone. The Samsung Galaxy F62 is the company’s second smartphone in the F series and is undoubtedly a mid-range.
Its fame is the Exynos 9825 SoC that powers the Galaxy Note 10, so Samsung pairs it as a mid-range smartphone with a flagship SoC, only the flagship is from two years ago. While things can be misleading on paper, our smartphone testing process really separates the confusion from reality.
Design and visualization
Samsung likes to make great phones, and the Galaxy F62 is no exception. The 6.7-inch screen has a crisp 1080p Super AMOLED panel with great viewing angles and is probably the best screen you’ll see at this price point. The 60Hz refresh rate is lower than many other devices in this category, but these devices usually come with an LCD display.
At 218 grams, this phone is certainly bulky, but not as bulky as you might expect given it has a huge 7000mAh battery, probably due to Samsung’s “Glasstic” polycarbonate back. The back of the phone looks and feels just like a mirror – it also attracts fingerprints and smudges, just like one. The back of the Galaxy F62 looks like a mirror, with a clean pinstripe.
The buttons on the side look very meaty, they click when you press them. The Galaxy F62’s fingerprint sensor is located on the power button and is much faster than the A51 and A71 or any recent smartphone with an optical scanner in the display. Samsung doesn’t include a case in the box with the F62, but you’ll probably have to buy one to protect the plastic back and the camera bump.

With a 64MP main shooter, a 12MP ultra wide-angle sensor, and two 5MP macro and depth sensors, Samsung used the same quad camera setup as the Galaxy M51 and Galaxy A71. But since this device supports Exynos 9825, the photo shooting speed is much faster than both the M51 and Galaxy A71, which have a Snapdragon 730G and 730 respectively.
The Samsung Galaxy F62 takes good photos during the day, with the 64MP main camera capturing good details and the dynamic range is outstanding. But this also applies to the Galaxy M51 and A71, which also take similar images.
In terms of image quality, the Galaxy F62 produces slightly saturated and warmer-side images. You still have 16MP images saved, but the images are crisp and clear. The ultra-wide camera is also quite capable and your images don’t look too different in color and dynamic range than the main camera.
The macro camera on this device is a bit of a hit because when it works it takes very sharp photos of the subject. But more often than not, you tap the screen a few times to focus the macro camera, and in our opinion, the whole experience could be better overall. You also get Bixby Vision and AR Emoji, which are missing from the other budget offerings.
Using the Galaxy F62’s camera will feel very familiar to you if you’re coming from another Galaxy device with One UI, but new users will find the interface simple enough to use and packed with features. Samsung’s camera often produces punchy, vibrant images compared to competing devices like the OnePlus Nord, but these are still some of the best images you can take, with the possible exception of the recently released Mi 10i.
Galaxy F62 Performance Review
The Galaxy F62 is equipped with the 7nm octa-core Exynos 9825 processor, which runs two powerful Samsung cores, two Cortex A75 cores, and four efficient A55 cores. This is the same processor as the Note 10 series and shows up in everyday tasks such as switching between cameras, editing photos or opening videos with high efficiency, and so on. There are simply zero stutters and zero lags when using the phone.
Only when you open your favorite games does the Galaxy F62 really show what it’s capable of. On Asphalt 9 the game loads quickly, graphics and visuals are displayed flawlessly without any lag or stutter. However, after an hour of non-stop gaming on the phone, the phone got hot and the game started stuttering. However, it wasn’t the game. The built-in game mode seemed to have throttled the phone and immediately turning it off restored smoothness.
Samsung Galaxy F62 Battery Review
The battery life of the Galaxy F62 was the biggest surprise. Before the Samsung Galaxy F62, every flagship mobile processor almost always offered a day of battery life, at best. But this phone goes on and on – with around seven hours of playtime a day, plus regular social media use, up to two percent 38 hours went by after removing the charger.
Initially, it was hard not to be skeptical of the 7000mAh battery and wonder why Samsung put such a large battery in, if not to compensate for a high-power CPU just like they have a 6000mAh battery with the Exynos 9611 chipset on the Galaxy series. M. But unlike the latter, the Exynos 9825 is efficient enough to allow the phone to last two days on a full charge with moderate use.
Many may wonder if Samsung has inserted the 7000mAh battery due to a high power consumption Exynos 9825, just as they did with the 6000mAh battery that comes with many M-series phones that ship with the Exynos 9611.
However, this simply doesn’t True, the Galaxy The F62 will last more than a day with extremely heavy use, such as a mix of gaming and video editing, and over 36 hours with light use, such as occasional social media viewing.
You can safely take your phone out in the morning and have more than enough charge after all day of use, and even use the USB-C to USB-C cable to charge another device, eliminating all those power bank jokes that come true.
The device doesn’t come with 5G support, but at this price point and considering how far we are from a well-functioning 5G network across the country, this phone has more than enough power for years to come. It will also age much more elegantly than other phones in this price segment due to its better processing capabilities and large RAM and storage capacity.
Samsung is still shipping a lot of bloatware on this device costing over £ 20,000 which is frustrating. While it is not possible to delete apps like Netflix and Facebook, they can only be disabled, but others like Moj, Chingari, ShareChat MX TakaTak, PhonePe, and PaySense can be removed.
Meanwhile, Samsung has shipped Android 11 on this phone, with One UI 3.1 out of the box. Rather than the more limited One UI Core, you get the full experience here, so S Pay works, Bixby works too (although most might not care) and so do the Good Lock and Secure Folder modules.
The software looks well optimized and there are no micro lags or glitches when switching apps or multitasking. Samsung hasn’t specified how many updates the Galaxy F62 will receive, but hopefully, it’s three years of platform updates, just like the Galaxy A51 and A71.

Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy F62 is a smartphone designed for people who want reliable performance, but above all, excellent battery life. Surprisingly, the Exynos 9825 still holds up despite being two years old. The design becomes a point of polarization for this smartphone, but the side-mounted fingerprint sensor is definitely a huge draw.
You also have dedicated SIM card slots and a separate MicroSD card slot, which is great. The cameras can be used for social media and the like, but the only camera that works reliably in tough conditions is the 64-megapixel main camera. If you need a smartphone with reliable performance but with class-leading battery life, the Samsung Galaxy F62 is perfect for you.
The flamboyant Samsung Galaxy F62 will be available from February 22nd at noon. It is priced at Rs. 23,999 in India, a bargain for all the value it offers. Flipkart’s Smart Upgrade program is another choice. Buy the smartphone at 70% of the price and pay the remaining 30% after one year or switch to another Galaxy device.
