Xiaomi Mi 11 Gets MIUI 12.5 Update in Europe

In February, at the global unveiling of MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi promised that global versions of its phones would receive this update in April or May. One of the devices in the first batch was the Mi 11, and today the company kept its promise.

After a rollout in China last month, MIUI 12.5 is now available for Mi 11 units in Europe. The new build coming in over the air is called 12.5.1.0.RKBEUXM. The “EU” in the middle tells you where to go.

According to the changelog you can see in the screenshots above, you can expect instant gesture response and “20x better rendering performance”. There is also a bold promise that “every phone will get faster after the upgrade,” thanks to the device model tweaking. MIUI 12.5 should also be lighter, faster, and “more durable”, whatever that means.

Plus, the Notes app gets massive improvements: support for mind maps with complex textures, new scribble and sketch tools, gesture link to annotate, task, and snippet anywhere – and when you talk about it snippets save text, URLs, and images the app in a few simple taps. Finally, dynamic layouts take “typography to a new level” in Notes.

As usual, the update can be rolled out gradually so it may take a few days for all European Mi 11 units to show the notification. By the way, you’ll see a 656MB download when it finally arrives on your phone. And once installed, you’ll have the April 2021 security patch level that’s already outdated – but unfortunately, that’s the case with most of Xiaomi’s recent updates.
