Xiaomi Working On A Memory Extension Feature For MIUI
Xiaomi will soon be making multitasking easy and convenient for its smartphones. The Chinese company is expected to introduce a RAM expansion feature in MIUI soon, which is gaining popularity in recent times. The feature gives users more RAM permissions, making it easier to use. Xiaomi will soon introduce virtual RAM
According to a well-known tipster, Kacper Skrzypek, Xiaomi could soon add the possibility to increase the RAM in the future MIUI update. This allows users to get more RAM by allocating memory from the internal memory pool. In the case of Xiaomi, users can use 1 GB of memory as additional memory for better multitasking and keep more apps in memory.
According to the screenshot shared by Skrzypek, Xiaomi recommends that users allocate RAM only if they have enough internal storage space to make a compromise.
However, we don’t know when exactly the feature will be released. There is also no word on which devices can use the feature. However, for cheap Xiaomi phones, it would make sense to use this feature (in addition to the high-end phones) as they may require more.
Not a new concept
For those of you who didn’t know, the concept of RAM expansion isn’t new. Smartphone manufacturers have started making virtual RAM available to users so they don’t have to worry about doing multiple things at once. This is also useful for games.
The recently introduced Vivo X60 Pro and Pro Plus have an additional 3 GB of virtual RAM for smoother performance. This can be seen in the latest Vivo V21 5G, which also gets 3 GB of expanded RAM.
Because of this, there is a chance that more Android phones will get the functionality soon.
Hopefully, the feature is not limited to just high-end Xiaomi phones, as the extra memory would most likely benefit older devices with a lower memory capacity. After all, the idea of adding memory is to improve multitasking capabilities and keep more apps open in the background.
