TECNO CAMON 17 ANNOUNCED WITH HELIO G85 AND 90HZ DISPLAY
The Tecno Camon 17 is the direct successor to last year’s Camon 16. The model comes with several upgrades from the last model. For example, the Helio G85 CPU replaces the Helio G70 chip used in the previous model. The Camon 17 has a 6.6 inch HD + screen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels from the front. The screen field is IPS and has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a dot notch on the side.
Transsion Holdings continues its global campaign through the Tecno and Infinix brands. Last week, the company unveiled a range of new smartphones under both brands. We can mention the Tecno Spark 7P and the Infinix 10 Play. Now the company is releasing a new Tecno smartphone for its Camon series, the Tecno Camon 17. As you might expect, this is another budget smartphone from Tecno with decent but modest specs like the Helio G85 SoC and an HD + display. TECNO CAMON 17 SPECIFICATIONS REVIEW
The Tecno Camon 17 has a 6.55-inch display with a hole aligned at the top left. The panel is of the LCD type and offers an HD + resolution (1,440 x 720 pixels). The good side is that it offers a 90Hz refresh rate which makes transitions and navigation smoother. As mentioned above, the handset comes with the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. This chip has two ARM Cortex-A75 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores with a clock speed of up to 1.8 GHz. It also comes with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU with a clock speed of up to 1 GHz. The phone is paired with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM. The memory is 128 GB regardless of the variant selected, and microSD cards are also supported.
In terms of optics, the handset has a primary 48-megapixel camera. It is accompanied by a 16 MP ultra-wide camera and a 2 MP tertiary sensor. For selfies, there’s a 16MP front snapper that makes the hole it’s home. The handset is powered by a massive 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Like other smartphones in this price range, the charging brick is included in the scope of delivery. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and a fingerprint scanner on the back.
The device immediately runs Android 11. In addition, Tecno offers its own HiOS level with different visual elements and functions. It’s good to see Android 11 here. After all, the Infinix 10 Play recently hit India, which is still based on Android 10.
PRICES AND AVAILABILITY
The Tecno Camon 17 is available in configurations – 6 GB + 128 GB and 4 GB + 128 GB. The 6GB variant costs Ksh 22,799 (the US $ 210), the price of the other variant has yet to be announced. Regardless of the option selected, there are three possible color variations: Frost Silver, Deep Sea, and Calm Green.
