Oneplus Nord Stable Update For Android 11 Withdrawn Due To Performance And Stability Issues

Following the launch of three Android 11-based OxygenOS Open Beta versions for the OnePlus Nord, OnePlus finally rolled out the first stable Android 11 update for the device earlier this month. The update included all the new features that Google introduced with Android 11 and some improvements from OnePlus, such as a brand new visual design, a new on-shelf UI, and more. Over the past week, OnePlus has gradually rolled out the update to Nord users around the world. But the company has temporarily halted the launch.

According to a recent comment from OnePlus community consultant dsmonteiro on OnePlus community forums, the OxygenOS 11 update for OnePlus Nord has been “temporarily suspended to ensure a smooth user experience, due to some bugs detected”.

While the comment doesn’t shed light on the bugs, several OnePlus Nord users have reported experiencing issues such as increased battery consumption, slow charging speed, and more after the update. The update also appears to have broken the OxygenOS App Locker feature and users will not be able to access locked apps after installing the update. Some users report experiencing slowdowns on their device with the Android 11 update and unable to open some photos in the Gallery app. We saw a report on another uncommon issue that randomly adds parallel apps to the app drawer while using a third-party launcher.

OnePlus is currently investigating the issues and the company plans to roll out another OxygenOS 11 update for the device with fixes soon. If you have not updated your OnePlus Nord to the latest version, we recommend that you wait for OnePlus to confirm that all issues have been resolved. But if you’ve already installed the update, you can downgrade to OxygenOS 10 until OnePlus releases a fix. Alternatively, you can upgrade to the latest version of OxygenOS Open Beta if you don’t want to give up on Android 11’s new features.
